Are you an older adult or senior (55+) looking to stay active in your community? Passionate about issues that affect seniors and looking for a place to have a say? Join us!

The Seniors Hub Council is a place to take action, share ideas, and connect with like-minded seniors. Our approach is collaborative and community-based, and our purpose is to facilitate mature adults’ independence and active participation in the community.

Potential candidates should be team players, open-minded, and dependable. Council members meet on the first Tuesday of every month, and we are looking for a commitment of one year and 15 hours/month. The Seniors Hub Council is a dedicated group of seniors who provide advocacy in Southeast Vancouver in a number of ways. Senior volunteers share information on issues affecting seniors and identify assets and gaps in community services and programs.

Past successes have included workshops on promoting health, raising awareness of elder abuse, and information sessions about benefit entitlements. Many of these workshops are provided in several languages. We also produce an informative newsletter highlighting community resources, the efforts of volunteers, and examples of best practices within the community.

Through our projects and programs, the Hub seeks to help seniors escape isolation, enhance their well-being, uncover opportunities, and empower them to participate in the community.
