Exploring Seniors Transportation Solutions Through Digital Stories
With funding from New Horizons for Seniors, Government of Canada, the Seniors Hub worked with Jessica Hallenbeck, Thor Larsen, Cheryl Buckman and Jessa Williams to collect digital stories from seniors in Southeast Vancouver who have been negatively impacted by lack of appropriate transportation.
Volunteers, both young adults and seniors were trained to operate a digital camera and recorder and to collect stories from the seniors.
The 15 digital stories (on DVD) that were created and presented, accounted very honest and moving personal stories about the many diverse transportation challenges experienced by South Van Seniors.
We also held a celebration to showcase the DVD on April 20, 2013 at Sunset Community Centre in Vancouver, BC.
