Seniors Peer Support Program

Seniors Helping Seniors
Seniors Helping Seniors in Southeast Vancouver. Would you like to volunteer?
Contact: Amie Peacock
Email - 604-324-6212 Ext 142
Volunteer (peer) Seniors offer a friendly telephone call or one-to-one visits for seniors who live alone and feel isolated.
If you are someone who is caring, compassionate and willing to go the extra mile to brighten someone's day, this can be a meaningful way to give back to your community in South Vancouver.
We are seeking volunteers for our Seniors Peer Support Program for homebound seniors living in Southeast Vancouver. We need caring, compassionate volunteers. Here's how you can help:
1. Friendly Visitor/Walking Companion - visit an isolated senior in their home or take them for a walk to provide companionship and a meaningful social opportunity. (Criminal record check required.)
2. Hello Neighour/Safety Line Caller - a brief, daily phone call from you provides a sense of safety and friendship. Three to ten minutes per day from the comfort of your own home is your only commitment.
We invite you to participate with our Seniors Peer Support program. For more information, please contact Amie Peacock below.
Volunteer training will be provided to enhance personal development, interpersonal skills and knowledge in aging related local resources. A better and healthier neighbourhood is to be built by many "Good Samaritans". Many isolated seniors are invisible and need to be re-connected with local communities. You can make a difference!
Also, if you are a senior (or know of a senior/older adult) who would like to receive a regular telephone call or a visit in their home in Southeast Vancouver, and would like to know more about our program, please contact:
Amie Peacock
Email - 604-324-6212 Ext 142
Note: Volunteers are interviewed and screened, including a criminal record check.
*This program is offered through South Vancouver Neighbourhood House (SVNH) and is graciously funded by Vancouver Coastal Health SMART Fund.
