Volunteer Opportunity:
Help us reach out to seniors in Southeast Vancouver!
The South Vancouver Neighbourhood House “Neighbourly Together” project is a service that connects neighbours to
support seniors.
What
Neighbourly Together is an ongoing service offered at South Vancouver Neighbourhood House. This program connects seniors to community programs and services, to help them stay healthy in mind and body, and age in place.
How
Volunteers help create a culture of care for seniors in our community. They will meet seniors at home, at library, or somewhere seniors feel comfortable to have a talk. They will provide community services information, refer seniors to services, or have friendly neighbours/visitors to be seniors’ buddies.
Who
Neighbourly Together volunteers receive twelve hours of training in peer support, effective listening, conflict resolution, etc. Volunteers speak English, Punjabi, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese and Spanish.
Are you or do you know an elder who could benefit from more community support? Then, please contact us below.
We are also looking for senior volunteers who are:
- seniors 55+ and younger welcome
- Southeast Vancouver residents
- speakers of English, Chinese, Vietnamese, Punjabi, Spanish, English and ASL signers
- First Nations, Deaf, and LGBT2SQ
