GF Strong
Dear members of the South Vancouver Seniors Hub community:

My name is Terynn Chan and I am contacting you from the GF Strong Rehabilitation Research Centre where Dr. Ben Mortenson is currently conducting multiple studies related to mobility issues, aging and social participation.  I understand you have many excellent programs and activities for seniors and I believe the studies at GF Strong are a great way for these individuals to voice their opinions on relevant issues.

There are two studies that are in progress at the moment.  One involves scooter users and looks at the reliability of several tools to assess scooter skills and issues such as confidence and accessibility.  The other study is focused on the differing levels of mobility and social participation in people aging with spinal cord injuries versus people who sustain a spinal cord injury later in life.

Both studies entails two visits to either GF Strong (4255 Laurel Street, close to King Edward and Oak) or Blusson Spinal Cord Centre (818 West 10th Avenue). Each visit will range in time from 2-2.5 hours, and participants will receive a $25 stipend per visit.

Through these studies we hope to create training programs and interventions in order to increase community engagement for individuals with disabilities.  If you can contact us regarding whether or not you can assist us in spreading this information that would be greatly appreciated! You can contact either the research coordinator, Mary Ellen Johnson by email or myself.

Sincerely,
Terynn Chan - email
