Neighbourly Together Getting Together

On November 21st, more than 40 seniors from Menno Court, an independent living house, met their neighbours and had a wonderful time together.

For many of them, it was the first time to introduce themselves to neighbours, even though they have been living in the same building for years.

Seniors also did Tai Chi exercise and line dancing with volunteers. All who attended and participated were really happy with the gathering.

Moving Through Grief and Loss


Allies in Aging​ is pleased to present an interactive workshop on Connecting Seniors: Moving Through Grief and Loss, for Volunteers and Service Providers who work with seniors. 
  • Identify the central needs of those who are mourning.
  • Learn about the physical and emotional reactions of grief.
  • Explore helpful ways to support a senior who is grieving.

Join us for this interactive workshop with Lorna Harding,Coordinator of the Seniors Peer Support Program with North Shore NeighbourhoodHouse.

When: Monday, January 15, 2018  
9:40 to 1:00 pm
(registration 9:40 to 10:00 am)

Where: Inn at the Quay
900 Quayside Drive, New Westminster, BC (in the Hyack Room)

New Caregiver Support Group for South Vancouver

New! We have a New Caregivers Support Group page on our website here

Family or friend caregivers may be juggling work, family members, friend, and/or neighbours.


The main goal of this group is to create a viable and sustainable support team for unpaid caregivers in South Vancouver - to help caregivers take some time for themselves.

Join this group to meet other caregivers, share life experiences, and build your own strong, positive and supportive network. Each monthly session involves informative discussions on various caregiver challenges as well as fun and exciting group activities. Light refreshments will be provided, and bus tickets are available if needed.

Held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month
​From 12:30pm-2:30pm
South Vancouver Neighbourhood House - in Rec Room
Cost is free with SVNH membership
