I heard from Lorna Gibbs this week who was excited to tell me that after several years of dotting the I's and crossing the T's, the Southeast Vancouver Seniors' Arts and Cultural Centre Society (SVSACS) has finally been approved for charitable status.
That means Gibbs and other members of the society can ramp up fund-raising for a South Vancouver Seniors Centre they've strived for more than a decade to become a reality. Gibbs says the official status will allow the society to now issue tax receipts for charitable donations.
To get involved with this important project, please contact Lorna Gibbs at SVSACS, by visiting their website at www.svsacs.org.
The map below shows that at present there are no senior centres in South Vancouver - where there are 8 senior centres west of Main Street. SVSACS is working hard to change this.
